I have a problem with my 50 HP 2 stoke Mercury. I will be running along at about 4800 rpm and with out warning, the rpm will drop to 3500 rpm at full throttle. I put the boat in neutral and rev it up to red line 5,000 rpm for a second, go back to an idle and then put it in gear slowly throw the throttle and will still only get 3500 rpm out of it at full throttle. The bulb also gets soft sometimes
Then for no reason, it may or may not clear up and run right. I have had two so called Mercury mechanics look at it, I spent over $1,400.00 on it and had all the carburetors and fuel pump rebuilt, installed all new fuel lines, added a water separator, new filters, new prop and water pump, new vented gas cap, new plugs, and both mechanics claimed it was fixed, which it is not. It also idles rough and stalls which makes parking a problem. It has a non metallic fuel cell Any ideas or who could fix this?

I recently graduated from MMI and would gladly take a look if you would like. 321-557-4162 call me.
what kind of gas are you using? when was the last time you had a water pump service?
