BRSPS is a unit of the United States Power Squadron, the largest boating organization in the world. A 501(c)3, we have three basic goals: Safe Boater Education, Community Service and Member Fellowship. Our Motto: Boating is FUN - Let Us Show You How!
The TALL SHIPS and us.
There is only one indelible memory I retain from the time I spent with my father on the Chesapeake Bay. Sure, I recall fishing and just cruising on his 40-foot wooden bay-built boat. In addition, I remember going out to the Bay passing the U.S. Naval Academy. I recall the Bay Bridges, the lighthouses and the shoreline.
Nevertheless, the indelible memory, still vivid today, was during the Bicentennial, as the Tall Ships sailed up the Bay to Baltimore. We passed along with the ships – passed between them - wondered at them. Those beautiful ships, seaman on the rigging, the colors, the sails, the size!
While a Bicentennial cannot be repeated, a fleet of Tall Ships sailing into port can be repeated. How about our Port Canaveral?
Three Squadrons of District 23 of the United States Power Squadron are initially working together to attempt to have the Tall Ships visit our port in 2015.

However, we cannot accomplish this very complex task alone. We have made initial contact with Port Authorities and they reacted positively. We will contact the other Port officials to obtain a positive reaction, permissions, and support. We will enlist the rest of Florida’s Power Squadrons and the National organization.
BUT, WE NEED TO HEAR FROM YOU!
If you think a fleet of Tall Ships visiting us would be something positive for our communities,
If you believe this often once-in-a-lifetime opportunity would be a good experience for your family, your children,
If you would be excited to board a Tall Ship, or sailing for hours, or days, on a tall ship,
If you would like to become involved in attracting Tall Ships to our port,
If you would like to be involved in the support of the crews and officers,
PLEASE TELL US.
We need to know that we can find support from our communities in Melbourne, Satellite Beach and all of Beach Side, Cocoa, Cocoa Beach, and Titusville.
Go to any of our websites and drop a note to each of the Commanders or Bridge members with your ideas, insights, and encouragement.
