Disappearing Island

Information

Disappearing Island

During low tide every day, an island appears as the water recedes at the inlet where Ponce Inlet and New Smyrna almost meet. When it does, boaters from all around come to play on the pure sandy land. It is as if it were made for recreational boating!

Chris...how long will it take them to fix it?

Got the results today, warped head gasket, small amount of water leaking into # 3 cylinder. Rest of motor looks good, having valves and injectors done also,  you know how these jetboats suck up every thing, must have gotten too hot. It is being fixed now. I need a jar for donations :) Gotta be ready for my Keys trip

Thanks Chris, Great information. I'm sorry about your boat. I felt bad because someone backed in to my taillight. It doesn't seem that bad now :) I sent you an e-mail with a mechanic's information.

well we made it to the inlet, first time I have been down this year so I decided to do a survey to see how the winter moved the sand arond, WOW the back side canal that use to acomadate large boats backed in is now about 12 ft wide at Low tide, I was on the island at low tide, it is missing a lot of sand, looks like the persistant east winds have pushed alot of it West. Be careful if you have not been down to the inlet yet as the sand that was there last year is not there this year, Governers Cut is not navigable at low tide, unless you go around the back of the island in governers cut, that is still deep.

And the sad news of the day, when I got home I check the oil in my boat, Rt. engine had water in it, blown head gasket or oil cooler gasket. Changed the oil 7 times to get most of the water out. a Giant expensive Bummer!!!! looking for good Yamaha mechanic

It is going to be a great weekend. Don't forget to wear something green.

Think I will head down and listen to some music at the inlet (down the hatch) should be crowded with bikers and have a good band.
